Personality:

Carol is your classic fighter pilot - take-charge personality, cocky and fearless. She's happiest when there's something she can pit herself against and prove herself, whether it's a fight, a competition, or a record she can break. She's not insecure by nature, she knows she's good and likes to make sure everyone else knows it too - it's a game and a form of play for her, as much as pushing her plane to its limits or sparring with heroes who can match her.

She likes to come at things head-on; most of the things she deals with as a hero are things she can punch or blast, and if it's not that kind of a problem, she'd honestly prefer to hand it off to someone else. She's very intelligent and capable of solving complex problems when she has to - she was an award-winning journalist and author, and you don't get to be a fighter pilot or work for NASA being stupid - but if she can help it, she likes to keep her problems simple and clean.

However... her own personality kind of keeps things from being as simple and clean as she'd like. She's bullheaded as hell, and once she decides she's going to do something, there's little chance of stopping her or talking her down. She has a quick temper, flaring at a moment's notice and occasionally pushing her into rash decisions; at the same time, she's a bit of a control freak, always trying to keep a handle on her situation even in defiance of external factors she has no way of controlling. She takes things personally, and she has a deadly vindictive streak; hurt her people, and she will not rest until she has destroyed you completely.

At the core of Carol's personality is the fact that she goes for things full-bore, all engines gunning. It doesn't matter if it's a fight, or a goal she's set for herself, or a personal relationship, once she's in something she's in it and she puts everything she has into it - and once she's achieved that goal, she's looking for the next thing, looking for a way she can do better, pushing herself to be just that little bit more.

It's no surprise, then, that she has an addictive personality. She's an alcoholic, and for a while it was enough of a problem that she had to leave the Avengers - while she doesn't drink anymore, it's always going to be a part of her. These days, her drug of choice is adrenaline, and when she doesn't get it in a fight, she'll go to the edge of the atmosphere, let the vacuum steal the oxygen from her brain and fall back to earth - the kinetic energy and the heat as she falls back to earth kickstarts her heart and brain again, and for a moment everything's alright. It's not healthy, probably, but it's what she has.

Personally, she's friendly toward most people, but doesn't really let anyone in until they've earned her trust. She's a playful dork, teasing and gently harassing her friends at every opportunity, but she'll be there in an instant when they need her at their back. She has a deep, strong sense of duty, and she will follow it even when it sets her against the people she loves... but equally, she loves her people whole-heartedly, and doesn't hold grudges against them once everyone's stopped punching each other. She loves as fiercely as she fights, and once she's chosen you, there's no getting rid of her.

Abilities:

Superhuman Strength: She can lift a bus full of passengers without too much strain. She could probably crumple Iron Man like a tin can if significantly motivated. Official power rankings put her at being able to lift 70-100 tons.
Flight: She can fly under her own power, up to and over Mach 3 speeds. This works in vacuum as well as it does in atmosphere (or better, possibly). She also... does not seem to need any kind of breathing apparatus in vacuum? Don't ask me how that works. But she's fine without it.
Superhuman Durability, Reflexes, Endurance: Her body is physically harder and more difficult to damage than a human's; she's highly resistant to harm from bullets, great impact forces, falls from great heights, exposure to temperature & pressure extremes, and vacuum; basically immune to harm by energy blasts of any kind (which will only up her power level, albeit temporarily). Capable of exerting herself for up to 24 hours without tiring. Has superhuman reflexes and agility.
Energy Absorption: She can absorb most kinds of energy and use it to temporarily enhance her own physical ability and energy projection. Basically do not shoot her with a phaser of any kind it's a terrible plan.
Photonic Blasts: Can fire powerful concussive photonic blasts from her hands; they're essentially light, heat, and force all in one, and at their most powerful (when augmented by energy absorption, as mentioned above) can be equivalent to a nuclear blast (minus the radiation).
Healing Factor: She heals extremely quickly, and her body expels most foreign bodies in very short order. Immune to most toxins and poisons; there are probably some things that could harm her, but she can handle a lot of things that would kill humans.
Magical Girl Costume Magic: ...so she can change her clothes into her uniform at will. It's a form of molecular manipulation that only applies to her costume??? Basically, she might not even buy clothes anymore, just make clothes out of her powers. Who fucking knows at this point.

Outside of her actual superpowers, she's an experienced fighter pilot, both in planes and spaceships, she's trained in armed and several forms of unarmed combat, and she's experienced in espionage. She's fluent in English, Russian and Spanish, as well as Kree and Shi'ar, with limited knowledge of a few other alien languages from her universe.
